How many Railway Wheels does a Locomotive have

The number of locomotive wheels depends on the number and type of locomotives and the number and type of carriages.

 

Locomotives generally have 4, 6, 8 or 12 axles. Each axle has 2 wheels.

 

WAM 1, EMU motor coach - 2800 hp, 1600 hp AC locomotive with 4 axles.

 

WAP 1,4,7 - 3900 HP, 5060 HP, 6120 HP (continuous) - 6 axles each.

 

WAG C3, WAG 11, WAG 12 - 10000, 11000, 12000 HP are available with 12, 12 and 8 axles and they are double locomotives.
